Personal Insights
What drives you and what do you enjoy most about your role at NPF?
I am a detail-oriented person and function best in an organized environment. I love finding new ways to improve organization and systems to enhance functionality. I also enjoy supporting people and being part of an effective team.
What was your journey to the investment world and NPF specifically?
I went to college with aspirations of becoming a Speech-Language Pathologist and transferred to GVSU for my junior year. I started working part-time with a property management company and eventually decided that I would pursue a full-time position after completing my undergrad degree instead of continuing with schooling. Soon after graduation, I was promoted to Multi-Site Property Manager and stayed in that ever-changing role for another six years until my daughter was born. I spent a year at home focusing on my family before I was recruited to NPF through connections from my previous role.
What are the values that drive you in your professional and personal life?
I’ve always lived by the mantra, “what goes around, comes around.” I believe that meaningful relationships are created by giving people what you would like to receive in return and that more can be achieved with kindness and respect than contempt – both personally and professionally.
Where did you grow up and where do you live today?
I was born and raised in the thumb region of Michigan. I moved to the Grand Rapids area in 2014 when I transferred to GVSU and have been here ever since!
Is there a person or experience that influenced you most?
However cliché it may be, my parents have been my biggest influence. From a young age, they instilled a good work ethic in my brother and me. I watched my mom pursue her dream of becoming a nurse and go back to school while working full time and raising two young children. After years of working out of the area, my dad started a business and has built it into a successful company that my brother will take over one day. While keeping family first, they have both been able to achieve personal goals and that has motivated me to do the same.
What is your favorite spot in West Michigan?
Any place with an outdoor patio! Bonus points if it’s on the water, has a cool view, or twinkling lights.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
My favorite way to spend time is with family. My husband and I love showing our daughter the beauty of Michigan, and one of our favorite things to do is to catch a sunset on the lakeshore with our dogs.
