What drives you and what do you enjoy most about being a wealth planner?
What I love most about wealth planning is the opportunity to listen to and understand that everyone has a unique financial and personal journey. It is very fulfilling to me to help people navigate that journey while setting and achieving goals alongside them. I am also deeply passionate about building meaningful relationships and serving others in a way that aligns with my God-given gifts.

What was your journey to the investment world and NPF specifically?
During my first year at Calvin University, I began investing on my own and quickly became fascinated by how investments worked. That year, I had the opportunity to visit NPF and job shadow Tyler Bosgraaf, which affirmed my decision to pursue a financial planning major at Calvin. Simultaneously, I joined the Knight Investment Club and became an on-campus finance coach, helping students navigate budgets, credit cards, and investments. After completing two internships in the industry, I realized that my passion extended beyond investments to building meaningful relationships with people. Fortunately, NPF recognized the strength of Calvin’s financial planning program, and I was excited to receive an offer soon after.

What are the values that drive you in your professional and personal life?
Growing up, I was blessed to have a father who instilled in me values like hard work, honesty, and gratitude. These principles have stayed with me and continue to shape both my career and my family life. I have always found pride in my work, as completing tasks not only fuels my motivation but brings me a sense of fulfillment. Looking ahead, I aspire to be a role model for my future children, passing down the lessons of honesty and gratitude. These values are the key to making life richer, more rewarding, and more enjoyable for me!

What was it like growing up in your family?
As the youngest of four brothers, it was always busy growing up in the house. We were a big sports family and enjoyed competing against each other. We also loved doing activities like fishing, swimming, and playing mini hockey and baseball in the basement.

What is your favorite sports team?
A sports team I have grown to become passionate about is the Detroit Red Wings. A perfect day includes watching the Red Wings win in Hockeytown with at least one or two entertaining fights.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I love trying new restaurants with my wife around Grand Rapids; our current favorites being Hopcat and Maru Sushi. I also enjoy staying active through participating in soccer leagues and lifting weights.
