Personal Insights
What do you enjoy most about being a Compliance Manager?
I really enjoy the opportunities that the Operations role provides to help our clients and contribute to the success of NPF. Whether solving a problem, working on a special project or creating an in-house efficiency, each day offers something new and I look forward to coming to work.
What was your journey to the investment world and NPF specifically?
I started my career in the financial world as Trust Operations Associate with a local bank. As I gained more knowledge and experience, I worked my way up to Assistant Vice President. After a number of years at the bank, I was offered an opportunity to join the team at NPF. I was able to jump right in and use my skills to contribute to the firm.
What are the values that drive you in your professional and personal life?
Integrity is very important to me. Without it, everything else is muted. Being an honest, hard-working person is something I take great pride in and is something I strive for every day. Whether I am at work or at home, I try to remain true to my values.
Where did you grow up and where do you live today?
I was born and raised in Grand Rapids, MI. I almost left after college but after meeting my wife and getting married, she convinced me to stay. My wife and I have been married for twenty years and have three kids, a high schooler, a middle schooler and an elementary schooler.
What is your favorite place in West Michigan?
Lake Michigan. Whether it’s Grand Haven, Saugatuck or Sleeping Bear Dunes, I love being at Lake Michigan. My friends and family call it my happy place, and I couldn’t agree more.
What is your most unique or fulfilling achievement outside of work?
Qualifying for and running the Boston Marathon twice. Knowing that all the hard work, time and effort paid off in being able to run perhaps the most famous marathon is something I am extremely proud of accomplishing.
