Personal Insights

What drives you and what do you enjoy most about being a research analyst?
I love learning and have always enjoyed tackling complex projects and thinking critically. The Research Analyst position allows the perfect space for me to absorb a ton of knowledge and dig into interesting and challenging concepts.

What was your journey to the investment world and NPF specifically?
I have had an interest in the investment world since I was young, some of which stemmed from being exposed to real estate investing through my dad. I ended up studying finance and marketing in college and enjoyed being part of an investment club during my time at Calvin. After graduating, I worked for a venture capital firm as an Accountant and Controller, and I learned a lot from that experience. My position as an analyst here at NPF presents a great opportunity to delve deeper into the investment world and for me to develop into a better investment professional.

What are the values that drive you in your professional and personal life?
My faith has been the foundation and driving force for my life. I seek to honor God through my work and personal life. I believe the best way I can glorify God is by using what he has given me to serve and bless others.

Is there a person or experience that influenced you most?
I spent five months living abroad after graduating college – three months in Switzerland and two in Tanzania – while serving with a faith-based mission organization. It was by far the most transformative experience in my life. I grew so much personally and spiritually, broadened my cultural perspective, and met incredible people.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I love to spend time with my family and friends and also enjoy being outside – going for walks, running (more like jogging very slowly), playing Spikeball, and wake surfing. In the summer months, I spend most weekends at our family cottage on Fremont lake.

What is your most unique or fulfilling achievement outside of work?
I have worked on a few house-flips with my dad and brother. Working with my hands and seeing those projects come together from start to finish is a very rewarding feeling.

What organizations are you actively involved with – why and in what capacity?
I am a Young Life leader at East Kentwood High School which has been such a fun way to get involved in the community. I had great youth leaders while I was in high school, so I strive to reflect their leadership and be a good mentor to others.
