Personal Insights
What drives you and what do you enjoy most about being an Associate Investment Advisor?
I am always trying to be a better dad, husband, and steward of the faith. Focusing on these roles helps me be intentional and present.
As an advisor, I enjoy being a trusted partner to help people plan for life’s curveballs. I stumbled into financial services right after graduation and was immediately hooked on the joy and impact this profession can have with careful, intentional planning. If I can lessen someone’s burden around the stresses of money so they can live fuller lives, that makes it all worth it.
What was your journey to the investment world and NPF specifically?
I wanted to find a job out of college that mixed my love for building quality relationships and finance. In 2016 I got my official start at Fidelity Investments in Grand Rapids on the front desk and moved to Relationship Manager where I jumped headfirst supporting multiple advisors and hundreds of clients. I later transitioned to a Financial Advisor at Lake Michigan Credit Union where I earned my CFP® and helped members with their personal and business planning. 2023 was when NPF recruited me to support their growing firm as an Associate Investment Advisor.
What are the values that drive you in your professional and personal life?
I was raised with the simple outlook to “be love and spread love”. There is no reason to complicate it. I understand my blessings and privilege and my job to use it for good. The principles of servant leadership and having gratitude are other values I hold close.
Where did you grow up and where do you live today?
I grew up in Forest Hills and stayed in Grand Rapids for college at Aquinas. Now I live in Grandville with my wife, kids, and dog (Bella).
Is there a person or experience that influenced you most?
My Dad has influenced me the most. He is always willing to listen, cool as a cucumber, loving to all, and the humblest man you’ll ever meet.
What is your favorite (place/restaurant/venue/etc.) in Grand Rapids/West Michigan?
Favorite Venue: West Michigan White Caps. Enjoying a summer night at the ballpark with the family and a hot dog/cold beer in hand is hard to beat.
What is your favorite book…movie…band…podcast…sport (entertainment and/or business)?
I’m a die-hard Detroit Lions fan. Once we are home from church my Lions jersey is on and it’s go time. Of course, there has been plenty of pain and agony over the years, but that’s in the rearview. THIS IS OUR YEAR. One Pride!
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
You’ll likely find me outside throwing/kicking/hitting a ball with my kids in the yard or walking the dog. Fresh air is the best air. It will be a monumental day when the kids surpass my energy level.
