What drives you and what do you enjoy most about being a systems and data analyst?
I love the practical applications that coding can bring to everyday tasks. It allows me to be creative and save my coworkers time through process improvement and automation. It also challenges me to advance my understanding of the transfer of data between applications as well as summarizing a large data set into useful information which I enjoy.

What was your journey to the investment world and NPF specifically?
I started working with Annuities and Life Insurance at a family-owned practice. I wanted the opportunity to work with a client’s whole portfolio, so I joined Merrill, Bank of America where I worked as a banking and investment advisor. After relocating to Grand Rapids from Cincinnati, I left the Financial Services industry and joined Spectrum Health as a financial analyst. I soon learned that the health care industry wasn’t for me and was thrilled to accept an opportunity with NPF and get back into the investment world.

What are the values that drive you in your professional and personal life?
Efficiency is a large driver for me. We all have a finite time in our lives and if I can use tools and structure tasks in a way that improves my efficiency, I can have more choice with what to do with my time. I also seek to surround myself professionally and personally, with people who challenge my understanding of the world and specifically economics.

Where did you grow up and where do you live today?
I grew up in St. Joseph and call the east side of Grand Rapids home now with my wife Lauren.

What is your favorite (place/restaurant/venue/etc.) in Grand Rapids/West Michigan?
I love the food, drinks, and vibe at Butchers Union.

What is your favorite book…movie…band…podcast…sport (entertainment and/or business)?
Joe Rogan and Lex Friedman are my favorite podcasters.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Golf, pickleball, hunting, camping.

What is your most unique or fulfilling achievement outside of work?
I earned Freshman All-American D1 Baseball honors.
