Congratulating Dave Doppel: A Career Milestone and a New Role

Feb 21, 2024

NPF Investment Advisors is pleased to announce the promotion of Dave Doppel to Portfolio Manager. Dave joined the firm in March 2021 as Operations Manager, overseeing our increasingly complex and intensive back-end operations, and assumed his new position as Portfolio Manager at the end of 2023.

Even as he was working hard to ensure seamless transaction experiences for our investment advisors and clients, Dave was simultaneously pursuing Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) certification. Becoming a CFA charterholder requires demonstrated expertise in financial research, portfolio management, investment counseling, risk analysis and risk management.

“You have to pass a series of three six-hour exams, each of which involves about 300 hours of study and preparation,” says Dave. “I was spending 10-15 hours each week outside of work on the CFA.” That’s on top of raising two young children – now ages 7 and 10 – with his wife, Nicole.

As a Portfolio Manager, Dave will support client portfolios by researching and analyzing fixed income investments. “We do exhaustive research on potential investment possibilities and we’re also constantly reviewing the investments we hold to make sure they’re still performing.” Dave says that’s one of the things that separates NPF from so many other investment firms.

The CFA Institute, which administers the CFA program, reports that there were only 190,000 CFA charterholders in the world in 2023. Seven of them work on our 20-person team: Partners Kurt Arvidson, Chad Dutcher, Dan Lupo, Dave Hodge and Tyler Bosgraaf, and Portfolio Manager Glenn Hefner, in addition to Dave. Recently retired Jay Wisentaner is also a CFA charterholder of more than 30 years’ standing.

We congratulate Dave on his achievement and look forward to his contributions in his new role.
